I scream, you scream, we ALL scream for ice cream!
It all began as a game between a Nonno (grandfather) and his nipoti (grandchildren). Now Pidapipo' in Carlton is one of Lygon Street's MUST try places and a Sunday afternoon tradition for many families.
With fresh fruit flavours, these guys know exactly what they are doing. Mamma was in heaven, not to mention the little ones. Pidapipo' only do a few flavours at a time to ensure maximum freshness. The ricotta, cinnamon and honey was to die for. You might find a strawberry and cream number that incorporates roses in a way that doesn't make it taste like cheap Turkish delight. Yum! Then there is your traditional gelati varying options like lemon and blood orange. Maybe a little Nutella with your ice cream or try the tap pouring liquid chocolate for a bit of taste. You can take your scoops in fresh waffle cones or go Sicilian-style and load 'em up in a brioche bun. Its all up to you!
Mamma's special mention: The Pauline Gandel Children's Gallery at Melbourne Museum is only a short drive to Pidapipo' Ice Cream Shop and is always delicious after a morning of learning and exploring.
