gumnut trails outdoor adventures in melbourne's north

Well, this is a fabulous idea! Mamma is a big fan of anything that inspires families to gather up the kids and head out for an adventure. Gumnut Trails Adventure Card packs are a great, fun way to discover a new place or to explore or uncover new things about a place you have been before.

How does it work? Well, first you order your adventure guides - click here. The available packs cover either Melbourne’s West or Melbourne’s North. Then all you have to do is choose which trail you want to explore, check what you need to take and away you go. There are 5 to choose from.

Gumnut Trails is your guide to getting outdoors and into nature as a family. Written and illustrated by Melbourne Mamma Christina, they are beautifully illustrated cards, are easy to follow and the perfect size for little hands to hold. Each card has great comic visual depictions of what you will find on your adventure and even little notes pages kiddos can fill in when they get home. Each adventure card has a mission, curious facts, the time it will take on the trail, what to wear, a map, lots of ID pics and more helpful information.

Blue Lake, Plenty Gorge

Our first adventure took us for a bike ride from Coburg Lake Reserve to CERES Environment Park and back with a picnic stop and things to spot along the way. These are areas we’ve been a hundred times before but it was a lovely way for us to get motivated to go again and was so cool to find things we had never noticed before. We also can’t wait to get back out to explore Blue Lake and Plenty Gorge Parklands and Darebin Parklands. There are several Northside adventures to choose from!

Mamma’s special mentions: With every guide sold - Gumnut Trails will donate to local conservation projects - check out more here
