merri creek labyrinth, clifton hill

The Merri Creek Labyrinth was created nearly 20 years ago by members of the local community as a resource for enhancing health and wellbeing through mindfulness and meditation. It is believed that there are many benefits to ‘walking the Labyrinth’ including the balancing of stress and finding peace through quiet reflection on our lives. Children will enjoy the challenge of following the stone path into the centre of the Labyrinth and out again - and Mamma must say that there is definitely a sense of calm that comes from this practice! However, as noted on the poem in the entrance, there is no one right way to walk the Labyrinth!

Right beside the Labyrinth you’ll find the ‘Wishing Tree’, draped in cards and letters containing the hopes and wishes of people who have visited the area. After walking the Labyrinth you may like to add a wish of your own! Don’t forget paper, a pen and some ribbon or string!

This is a very unique and special monument, resting on Wurundjeri land. It’s a peaceful spot to stop for a drink or snack during a walk or bike ride (It’s located right off the Merri Creek trail). Be sure to treat this special spot with care and take any rubbish away with you.

Mamma's special mention: The Quarries Park Adventure Playground is a short stroll away - make a morning or afternoon of it and stop by both of these lovely spots!
